What’s new in SalonOS
Salons see these notes on the About page and under Settings → Updates, where Update now installs a new version in one click (with a backup first).
Version 1.0.4 · 2026-10-16
- New license signing key. SalonOS trusts the shared license server's own SalonOS key. Licenses are issued from license.myhumannetwork.com.
Version 1.0.3 · 2026-10-16
- Licenses now come from license.myhumannetwork.com. SalonOS checks its license and updates with the shared MyHumanNetwork license server. Existing license keys keep working.
Version 1.0.2 · 2026-10-10
- Each salon backs up and restores its own data. On an installation that hosts several salons, Backups for a salon is its own: back up now, download, upload a backup and restore it (after a safety backup of how things are now). Only that salon's records come back; other salons, team accounts and settings aren't touched.
- A patch for the wrong program is refused. Installing a license-server patch in SalonOS, or a SalonOS patch or update on the license server, now stops with a clear message and changes nothing.
- Menus show only what you can use. On a hosted installation, salons don't see Backups, Updates, License or Branding (they belong to the whole installation), and Settings hides the Loyalty, Stock and API tabs when the plan doesn't include them. The license warning goes only to whoever can fix it.
- The person who installs SalonOS is its Super Admin (installations from before get one automatically: the first owner).
- Hosting other salons is a license feature. Businesses, sign-up and hosted plans appear only when the license includes *Host other salons*, which is meant for the company's own hosted installation.
- Hosted sign-up that runs itself. On a SalonOS that hosts salons, the sign-up page lets a salon pick a plan and its own link (yourapp.com/glow-studio). A plan with a free trial starts at once; one without opens the moment the first payment is confirmed. The owner gets a welcome email with the sign-in address and booking link. The short link yourapp.com/glow-studio opens that salon's booking page. The plans on sale are published at /saas/plans for the company website.
- Tax for any country. Name each rate the way your bills show it (VAT 20%, Sales tax 8.25%, GST 10%…), with prices including tax or tax added on top. A rate can show on bills in two named parts with their own percentages: India's CGST + SGST, Canada's GST + PST, and so on (Settings → Taxes & billing → *Edit* on a rate). Bills already issued keep their wording. The tax number label is yours (VAT number, ABN, EIN, GSTIN…), and the Tax report works for any VAT, GST or sales tax return.
- Any currency, everywhere. 51 currencies (Swiss franc, Swedish krona, Brazilian real, Mexican peso, Korean won, Thai baht and more). A new business starts with the currency and time zone of the visitor's own country instead of India's. Demo data comes in your own currency. Changing the currency can also move your existing (test) records to it. Amounts can be typed with a decimal comma (24,99). Examples in Settings use your currency, and UPI is offered by default only to businesses in rupees.
- Text messages go to the right country. The calling code for WhatsApp and SMS is worked out from your time zone (44 in the UK, 1 in the US…) until you set it, instead of assuming India's 91.
- Phones and tablets: a full pass over every screen. The menu is no longer see-through. Lists (customers, billing, staff, services, products, reports…) show as compact cards with the name on top and real buttons, with nothing cut off on tablets. Staff hours, branch opening hours and a service's staff prices fit the screen. Chart dates are readable, the dashboard's *Coming up* is half the height, date filters keep each label with its date, and the week calendar opens on today. On the booking page the *Continue* bar stays at the bottom of the screen, long buttons wrap instead of being cut off, and each step opens where you left off.
- Updates show up straight away on phones. The stylesheet and script are named by when they changed, so a phone or the installed app never keeps an old copy after an update.
- Every message has its wording. Businesses set up before newer messages were added (change requests, receipts sent by the team, online payment received, the My account sign-in link) now get them automatically, so those messages are sent.
- New user guide with real screenshots. Help & user guide now has a fully updated, step-by-step PDF with 49 screenshots of the actual screens (with sample data), covering everything in this release: change requests, refunds and the cancellation charge, My account, your own booking address, website pages, team emails, demo data and the full-page menu.
- Your provider's contact details stay current. The License page and the sign-in page show the support email, contact page and phone your SalonOS provider set, sent with each license check.
- Your own booking address. Settings → Online booking → *Booking site address*, e.g. yoursite.com/salon-booking: download two small files, upload them into that folder, and customers book there. Only the booking pages, My account and your website pages open at that address, never the sign-in or admin pages, and confirmations, reminders and My account links use it. The old link keeps working.
- Privacy policy, terms and your own pages on the booking site. Setup → *Website pages*: the privacy policy and terms start from standard wording with your salon’s name and cancellation charge filled in; change them, or add pages (gift cards, parking…). Published pages are linked in the booking site’s footer, and the booking form links the terms and privacy policy.
- Full-page menu. Settings → General → *Menu style*: keep the side menu, or switch to a *Menu* button that opens every section in the middle of the page, with the pages using the full width.
- Refund status updates by itself. Refunds that Stripe, Razorpay or PayPal accepted but hadn’t finished are checked with the provider (on the Refunds page, the invoice and the scheduled task, or *Check now*) and marked completed. A failed one is put back under *To refund*, the invoice reopens, and your team is told.
- Cancellation charge. Settings → Online booking → *Cancellation charge*: a % of the price or a fixed amount. Customers see it before they book and when they cancel; when you refund a cancelled booking, the charge is kept back (or refund it all).
- Billing → Refunds. One place for money still held for cancelled bookings and invoices (with the charge worked out and a Refund button), refunds waiting for Stripe, Razorpay or PayPal, and the latest refunds.
- Paid after cancelling. A payment that arrives after its booking or invoice was cancelled is recorded so it can be refunded, and your team is told. *Check payment now* on a cancelled invoice picks up one that was set aside.
- Refunds for cancelled bookings are easy to find. A cancelled or no-show booking that was paid for says how much was paid, with a *Refund* button that opens the invoice’s refund form. Change requests show what was paid online, and approving a paid cancellation takes you to the booking.
- Team notices by email, per branch. Settings → Messages → *Admin email* gets every notice by email (new online bookings, cancellations and change requests, online payments, low stock and expiring batches); each branch can add its *Manager’s email* (Branches → edit) for that branch’s notices. The branch is named in the subject and at the top of each email.
- Online booking limit is friendlier. Up to 10 bookings an hour from one internet connection (was 5); it doesn't apply when someone on your team is signed in on that browser, and the message shows at the top of the form with your phone number.
- Stripe payments come back without “Not Acceptable”. The address Stripe returns customers to no longer carries a session id that hosting firewalls (ModSecurity) refuse, so the payment is checked and recorded straight away.
- Customer changes need your approval. When a customer cancels or asks for another time online, the booking stays as it is and your team gets a notification; approve or decline under Change requests (approving moves it only if the time is still free). The customer is told either way. Switch it off in Settings → Online booking (*Changes need the salon’s approval*).
- Correct links in emails. If the booking page link was entered as the site address in Settings → Messages, links no longer get /book/… twice.
- Confirm and pay works. After choosing how to pay on the booking form, *Confirm and pay* now opens the payment page.
- My account sign-in works when SalonOS is in a folder (for example yoursite.com/salon): customers signing in with their mobile number and booking code, or a link, now stay signed in. The sign-in page has a cleaner layout.
- Choose how to pay while booking online. The last step of the booking page now has the payment choice (pay at the salon, or pay now by UPI/card or PayPal, or which provider takes the deposit). After *Confirm*, customers go straight to that payment page instead of being asked again.
- Import demo data. Export data → *Import demo data* fills an empty business with a sample salon to try everything: services, staff, customers, weeks of bookings with bills and payments, loyalty points, a membership and a package, coupons, and products with barcodes, batches and expiry dates. It's always the latest sample from MyHumanNetwork, and its dates move to today. A backup (“Before importing demo data” under Backups) is made first, so it can be taken out again. If the business already has records, tick *Add it even though this business has data* to add the demo records beside yours (your settings and message wording stay; demo invoice numbers start with DEMO-). Backups made before any import are now labelled as such.
- Send the receipt from the invoice. *Send by email* (through your own email settings) and *Send on WhatsApp* (through your WhatsApp provider) appear when that channel is set up in Settings → Messages. The customer gets the total, what's paid, what's left and a link to their copy, and what was sent is listed on the invoice.
- Barcode and QR scanning works when SalonOS is installed in a folder (for example yoursite.com/salon), and QR codes holding web addresses get through hosting firewalls.
- Paying online works on hosts with strict firewalls. Customers coming back from PayPal, Stripe or Razorpay are no longer stopped with "Not Acceptable", so the payment is checked straight away.
- Clearer PayPal messages. When PayPal holds a payment (for example because your PayPal account doesn't take that currency automatically), the invoice says so and what to do.
Version 1.0.1 · 2026-10-09
- My account for your customers. A *My account* link on every booking page. Customers sign in without a password (a one-time link by email or text, or their mobile number and a booking code) and see their upcoming and past bookings, bills, coupons made for them, loyalty points, packages and membership.
- A new booking page. Your services and prices beside the steps, a progress bar, a month calendar with times grouped into morning, afternoon and evening, and a bar showing what's chosen. Two looks in Settings → Online booking: Classic (light) and Studio (dark).
- Coupon codes when booking online. Customers enter a code and see the new price before booking. It's checked like at the desk and taken off the bill automatically.
- Add to calendar. After booking, customers can add the appointment to Google Calendar, Apple / iPhone or Outlook, with reminders.
- Scan barcodes and QR codes for stock. USB or Bluetooth scanners, or the phone camera: find a product, add items to a purchase with their batch and expiry, record use in the salon, and fill in a new product (name, brand, size, price) from the code or from free product databases.
- Online payments are recorded even if the provider's notice doesn't arrive. SalonOS checks with PayPal, Stripe or Razorpay when the customer comes back, when you open the invoice (or press *Check payment now*) and every few minutes.
- Payment receipts. Customers who pay online get a receipt by email or WhatsApp, and your team gets a notification.
- Export and import your data. Admin → Export data downloads everything as spreadsheet files (and one file to import again). *Import data* brings an export into an empty business with every record still linked.
- Install an update from a file. Settings → Updates takes a zip of changed files, keeps your settings and data, backs up first and can undo.
- Keep me signed in on the sign-in page, for 30 days on that browser, with a Show / Hide password button.
- A new look. A clearer menu with sections, a command search (Ctrl/⌘ K), frosted-glass panels, and a layout that fits phones and tablets.
